Thank you for helping grow our car-sharing community. RentMyRide, its subsidiaries, and affiliates (“RentMyRide”) may occasionally contact you to join one of their referral programs, which are designed to encourage people to use the RentMyRide services and/or websites. When participating in a referral program, either by suggesting friends or family or by signing up with a referral link or code, RentMyRide users can earn referral rewards in the form of coupons, discounts, extra incentives, or money (each a “Referral Reward”).

The RentMyRide Refer-a-Friend Programme Terms & Conditions (the “Referral Terms”) apply to a referral program that is administered solely by RentMyRide. Accepting and sharing your referral link or code, or signing up with a referral link or code, binds you to these Terms. Any violation of these Terms may result in the forfeiture or retraction of RentMyRide money or other rewards earned through the program, as well as the deactivation of your account.

Furthermore, there may be other terms that apply to your Referral Reward, such as what actions you must take and the type and amount of the Referral Reward. See the additional terms included with your invitation or those provided on our website when you referred someone.

Please keep in mind that these Referral Terms are in addition to the Terms of Use governing your use of RentMyRide services, which can be found here, as well as any agreement (if one exists) between you and RentMyRide or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates related to your interactions with RentMyRide.

Eligibility

Users who refer others to the program are “Referrers”; those who are referred are “Referred Customers.” The Referrers can be anyone who (1) has an active RentMyRide account, (2) is a legal resident of his/her country, and (3) of legal age where they live. Any RentMyRide user can make a referral; however, they cannot have more than one account for each RentMyRide product or service.

Referred Customers who are friends, family, and other people you know (but not yourself) may be invited to join RentMyRide.

Keep the following requirements in mind when determining their eligibility:

To receive a Referral Reward for referring someone who orders services through the RentMyRide website, your Referred Customers must (1) be a new RentMyRide user of that service, (2) meet the RentMyRide service conditions, and (3) complete the actions required by the specific referral program or any other action as applicable.

Eligible Referred Customers for those who provide services through the RentMyRide applications and/or websites:

To receive a Referral Reward for referring someone who provides services through RentMyRide website, your Referred Customers must (1) meet the eligibility criteria noted in the referral invite or offer; (2) meet all the RentMyRide conditions for becoming a Renter or Owner; (3) use your referral link or code when signing up to rent a car, list a car, or activate the offer, as applicable; and (4) complete the specific car rental within the specified time period; (5) take any other actions as required by the referral program; and (6) unless indicated otherwise, sign up or activate the offer within the validity range of the offer.

Your Referred Customers can only be referred once, so if they have already been referred by, and accepted another invitation, they will be unable to accept yours.

If you are providing RentMyRide with the contact information for your Referred Customers, you represent that you have the authority of the data subject to provide that information.

Referrer’s Code of Conduct

RentMyRide encourages you to share your referral link or code in order to earn Referral Rewards, but referral links or codes must only be used for personal and non-commercial purposes. This means you should only share your referral link or code with people you know. You agree not to;

1. Duplicate, sell, or transfer your referral link or code in any way or make it available to the general public (for example by printing it on business cards; posting it on a coupon website, job website, or using it as part of a job application, including but not limited to the website and applications Amazon, eBay, Fiverr, Craigslist, RetailMeNot, Reddit, Wikipedia, Gumtree, Moneysavingexpert, Groupon or using paid social media or paid search);
2. Make an attempt to obtain Referred Customers by spamming, bulk emailing, or sending large numbers of unsolicited emails. The only people you should email are people you know personally;
3. Use, display, or manipulate RentMyRide intellectual property (such as RentMyRide logos, trademarks, and copyright-protected works) in any way, except to identify yourself as a RentMyRide user or a Referrer of RentMyRide;
4. Create or register any (i) businesses, (ii) URLs, (iii) domain names, (iv) software application names or titles, or (v) social media handles or profiles that include the word “RentMyRide” or any of RentMyRide’s other trademarks or any words that are confusingly similar to RentMyRide trademarks.
5. Use RentMyRide trademarks as your social media profile picture or wallpaper or use any RentMyRide copyright-protected works (such as graphics, photos, images, drawings, and screenshots from the RentMyRide website without RentMyRide’s express written permission;
6. Purchase keywords (including, but not limited to Google AdWords) that contain any RentMyRide trademarks;
7. Use automated systems or bots through any channel to distribute, post, or otherwise share your referral link or code;
8. Use scripts or programmed or automatic dialers to send invites or otherwise share your referral link or code;
9. Make misleading claims about RentMyRide, use offensive/abusive content, create fake websites/webpages/social media profiles/apps, misrepresent your connection to RentMyRide, or otherwise make any false or misleading statements to get Referred Customers  to use your link or code; or
10. Use your referral link or code in any manner that violates the law or the rights of anyone else.

Remember, when you share your referral link or code, you should explain that you are a RentMyRide Referrer.

How it works

To participate, once you have created your RentMyRide account, visit https://www.rentmyride.co.za/app/refer-a-friend/ and follow the on-screen instructions to start referring. You will be provided a link that you can share with your friends and colleagues as much as you want.

If a user uses your personal link and signs up, each of you will receive a Referral Reward in the form of a coupon (“Coupon”) to the value of R200.00, to use towards a rental. A referral Coupon is limited to a single use per rental and a discount is applied to the daily vehicle rental fee only. Coupons may only be used for RentMyRide rentals and may never be redeemed for cash.

RentMyRide retains the right to impose a limit on the number of times you can use your referral code or link. The qualifications for receiving Referral Rewards, as well as the amounts available, are subject to change at RentMyRide’s sole discretion. RentMyRide rewards, coupons, or discounts earned through referrals are non-transferable, have no cash value, and unless stated otherwise on the referral offer, all Coupons will expire 6 months from the date of issue.

Termination and changes

RentMyRide reserves the right to change, end, or pause, in whole or in part, any referral program, as well as any Referrer or Referred Customer’s ability to participate in any referral program or receive Referral Rewards at any time for any reason, including suspected fraud (including by either the Referrer and/or Referred Customers), abuse, or any violation of these Referral Terms as well as any agreement (if one exists) between you and RentMyRide or any of its subsidiaries and affiliates. If RentMyRide ends any referral program, any unused or unredeemed Referral Rewards may be forfeited at that time, provided we give you 60 days of notice to use or redeem your Referral Rewards.

RentMyRide may update these Rules at any time. If RentMyRide makes an update, RentMyRide will post the update on its website and provide you with notice of the update. Continued participation in any referral program after any update will mean that you have agreed to the update.
